About The Position

The Community Living Society (CLS) is an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can live full, productive, and meaningful lives. CLS provides quality Person Centred support through residential, individualized, and community-based supports. This role involves providing support and actively engaging a supported individual to live a fulfilling and increasingly independent life. The support worker will help individuals discover their community, learn new life skills, find employment, and more. Duties include providing support with life goals, home support (personal care, bathing, meal preparation, light housekeeping), community outings (volunteering, paid employment, leisure activities), and maintaining records of daily activities and goal progression.

Requirements

Class 5 driver’s license (permanent staff must be willing to obtain a Class 4 license)
Fluent in American Sign Language
First Aid and CPR Certificate
Clear criminal record (paid by CLS)
Clean driver’s abstract
Access to a reliable vehicle

Nice To Haves

Ability to maneuver a wheel chair
Experience high behavioral support
Prior paid or volunteer experience
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training
Mandt System®
Knowledge of Person Centered Active Supports
Able to swim
Fluent in Mandarin is an asset

Responsibilities
