About The Position

The Business Development & Referral Specialist is responsible for growing referral and admission volume by building strong relationships with healthcare providers and community partners. This role serves as the primary liaison within an assigned territory and works closely with admissions and clinical teams to support timely, high‑quality patient referrals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in behavioral health, marketing, business, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a healthcare business development or marketing role
  • Experience building and maintaining professional relationships with internal and external partners
  • Strong customer‑focused approach with the ability to address service issues and partner concerns
  • Proficiency using computers and software for documentation, marketing activities, and performance tracking
  • Ability to work independently, manage a territory, and meet referral or performance goals
  • Licensure: Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in behavioral health or substance use treatment settings
  • Knowledge of psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment principles
  • Familiarity with behavioral health care delivery systems in Washington State
  • Experience using customer‑oriented or consultative selling techniques
  • Proven success building long‑term referral relationships within the behavioral health community

Responsibilities

  • Drive referral and admission growth by meeting or exceeding monthly, quarterly, and annual goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, rehabilitation centers, and community partners.
  • Conduct regular outreach to educate referral sources on INBH programs, levels of care, and admission criteria.
  • Identify and develop new referral opportunities to expand INBH’s market presence.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for referral sources within the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate closely with admissions and clinical teams to support referrals and ensure smooth transitions of care.
  • Represent INBH at professional events, community meetings, and networking opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategic business development plans in partnership with leadership.
  • Track outreach activity, referral trends, and market insights using designated systems.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and organizational policies.
