About The Position

The ASPIRE Community Integration Specialist (CIS) supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, exploring their communities, and achieving meaningful personal outcomes. CISs create lasting positive impacts through encouragement, mentorship, and person-centered support. This role involves helping individuals participate in community activities, assisting with daily living and personal care, discovering community opportunities, teaching new skills, providing transportation, documenting services, and maintaining safe environments. The goal is to help individuals live fuller, more connected lives through compassion, encouragement, and consistency.

Requirements

  • 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Must submit to a BCII/FBI background check and Nurses Aid & Abuser Registry checks.
  • Maintain American Red Cross or equivalent first aid and CPR certification.
  • Valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and insurability standards.
  • Complete eight hours of training as required by The Ohio Department of Developmental upon hire.
  • Must pass a physical and drug screen

  • Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Help individuals participate in fun, engaging community activities and experiences that build confidence and connection.
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and health maintenance while promoting dignity and self-advocacy.
  • Discover and coordinate community events, activities, and opportunities that align with individual interests and goals.
  • Help individuals build new hard and soft skills in real-world settings while encouraging growth and achievement.
  • Safely transport individuals to activities, appointments, and community outings as needed.
  • Document services provided and help maintain compliance with CMS, DODD, OOD, and CARF standards.
  • Help maintain a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for every individual served.
