Requirements

  • Associate's degree or equivalent in experience.
  • 2-3 years' experience in program development, as well as youth programming with a specific focus on children and youth ages 5-18 years.
  • Experience in community relations, volunteerism, financial literacy, or equivalent financial services.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to present in front of both large and small groups.
  • Flexibility to easily adjust to different education formats when needed, such as virtual, in-person, or pre-recorded.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management and follow-up skills.
  • Demonstrate, understand, and apply Credit Union policies, procedures, and knowledge of LOC products and services.
  • Well-developed reasoning and problem-solving skills, resulting in good decisions that do not result in a loss or expense to the Credit Union.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Must be able to work with children of all ages.

Responsibilities

  • Maximize LOC's impact and presence in the community, including school district partners, local community organizations, and community leaders by managing and executing financial literacy initiatives in school classrooms, community groups, committees, or organizations.
  • Travel between local establishments and LOC Branches to deliver programs, sometimes outside of regular business hours.
  • Identify and execute financial literacy needs for both youth and adults, including Classroom Experiences, Teen Financial Reality Fairs, and workshops.
  • Facilitate hands-on classroom experiences for grades 4 through 12.
  • Develop and maintain relevant financial literacy programs focused on ages 9 years through adulthood, with topics, activities, and focus on the educational needs of the community and partnered schools.
  • Partner with internal subject matter experts (real estate lending and wealth management, etc.) as needed to develop educational materials for schools, communities, and credit union membership.
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with school district partners, educators, and administrators.
  • Create and distribute marketing materials for credit union financial literacy efforts and programming.
  • Create and maintain an educational program calendar.
  • Promote youth accounts through financial literacy and education efforts.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with credit union volunteers, community members, and outside organizations.
  • Attend community engagement events outside of standard work hours, which may include the creation of volunteer instructions, coordination with event hosts, and packing/transporting supplies for events.
  • Seek out and initiate new opportunities for the credit union through community, schools, and local organizations.
  • Represent the credit union at community engagement and promotional events through schools or community partners.
  • Review, recommend, and implement LOC's community sponsorship program for assigned areas.
  • Attend community organizational meetings (chambers, community partners, downtown development authority, etc.) and take an active role as a committee member or event leader.
  • Provide summaries and wrap-ups of community engagement events, initiatives, and financial literacy efforts.
  • Track all financial literacy efforts (number of programs facilitated, students/participants reached, etc.) and document programs, including photos.
  • Maintain scheduling and calendar of regional community events, upcoming or past.
  • Update all sponsorship signage with organizations or schools and document/photograph signage of community exposure.
  • Provide reports of local events and benefits of LOC participation, including photos, attendee numbers, etc.
  • Adhere to requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and its implementing regulations, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), all organizational policies and procedures, and complete all required annual trainings.
