About The Position

The Community Impact Intern will gain a broad overview of STCU’s Community Impact department, which encompasses corporate philanthropy, the Here for Good Foundation, the Volunteers Count program, and government and public affairs initiatives. Responsibilities include providing research, writing, and administrative support to the Community Impact team on various projects. This involves assisting with donation stewardship, supporting the Volunteers Count program, aiding with special events, and conducting research and providing written updates on policy issues affecting the credit union. Specific duties include preparing for and following up on events, organizing storage areas, undertaking writing assignments, performing research and analysis, data entry, and compiling and summarizing information on complex topics. This is a fully in-person position located at STCU Headquarters in Liberty Lake, WA, running from September 2026 to May 2027. The role requires an average of 15-20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. A car is needed for this position, and mileage reimbursement is provided for work-related travel, excluding commutes to and from the work location.

Requirements

  • Must be an enrolled college student for the entirety of the internship and seeking credits, through Spring 2027 (Masters students are acceptable).
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Political Science, Government Relations, Public Administration, Economics, Law, or a similar field.
  • Versatile to work in a small team as a contributor and self-starter.
  • Ability to research, take complex information and synthesize it into high-level executive summaries.
  • Organized and good at helping others get organized.
  • Excellent verbal, organizational, and writing skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Forms.
  • Hard worker with a fun, can-do attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Community involvement, volunteer experience, and/or prior office experience.
  • Knowledge and passion for government relations and advocacy related topics.
  • Previous experience with research, writing, or data analysis.
  • Previous experience in community relations work or internships.
