At the gateway to Harriman State Park awaits the Reeves Meadow Visitor Center, ready to extend a warm welcome to patrons. We are currently seeking enthusiastic individuals to provide exceptional guest services/merchandising in the picturesque Harriman State Park. Requirements

  • Exceptional guest services skills and a demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Appalachian Mountain Club.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of the safe practices during hiking and outdoor activities.
  • Proven ability to successfully accomplish multiple tasks without direct supervision.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to be a team player within a detail-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Possesses some knowledge of retail/merchandising practices.
  • Must be enthusiastic and enjoys working with the public.
  • Proficient computer skills, including effective typing and strong written communication skills are mandatory.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office is expected.
  • Must be a team player, detail oriented, well organized, highly flexible, adaptable, and resourceful.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 9 hours at a time and lift up to 50 pounds from waist to head height or from floor to waist height is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior guest services experience is preferred but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist patrons with a friendly and approachable attitude.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date trail information, along with recommendations for local tourism and hospitality attractions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing Point of Sale (POS) systems, receiving deliveries, and efficiently stocking merchandise to maintain a well-organized and visually appealing retail environment.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of all retail items.
  • Take responsibility for organizing backstock, maintaining cleanliness in buildings, bathrooms, and grounds, contributing to a positive and welcoming atmosphere for park patrons.
  • Actively promote and sell AMC memberships, emphasizing the benefits and value of joining the Appalachian Mountain Club.
  • During emergencies, promptly refer patrons to the appropriate state agency personnel, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by being available to work weekends, nights, and holidays.
  • Maintain and promote AMC standards in all forms of hospitality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
