This is a highly responsible, fulltime professional position in the clinical services unit of the Leon County Health Department. The role promotes and maintains the health of individuals, families, and the community through appropriate preventative and rehabilitative measures. It involves providing comprehensive nursing services in various clinics, including Immunization, Refugee, Integrated (Family Planning/Title X), and Sexually Transmitted Disease clinics. Responsibilities include childhood and adult immunizations, growth and development monitoring, vital signs assessment, counseling, health screening, referrals, follow-up, and maintaining quality records. The position also serves as Lead Nurse for students/residents, trains new staff, and acts as a positive role model. Additionally, the role involves maintaining comprehensive quality records, collecting and reporting data, providing case follow-up, participating in case conferences, conferring with other professionals, formulating and evaluating care plans, assisting in record reviews and QI projects, and recognizing changes affecting community health programs. The nurse will also serve as a staff advisor to student affiliates and new nurses, and follow CDC guidelines for vaccine storage and handling, assisting with vaccine monitoring and inventory. Other duties may include clinic and emergency assignments as required.
