About The Position

The Community Health Lecturer will be responsible for planning, developing, and teaching pre-licensure Nursing Science classes in both clinical settings and the campus skills lab. This role involves maintaining accurate student records and clinical grades, coordinating clinical instruction with other faculty, and managing student experiences with clinical personnel. The lecturer will also serve as a liaison between the University and clinical agencies, participating in annual summation meetings. Additionally, the position requires involvement in curriculum development, participation in CCNE and BRN accreditation activities, and continuous professional development to stay current in subject matter and effective teaching techniques through recent clinical experience.

Requirements

  • A Master's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited college or university that includes courses in nursing education.
  • Leadership in the teaching of baccalaureate-level nursing and BRN content area, as well as teaching and student learning outcomes evaluation.
  • Possession of a current active California RN license.
  • At least one year experience teaching courses related to Community Health Nursing or a course that includes practice in teaching nursing.
  • At least two years continuous full-time experience in direct patient care practice as an RN and at least one year of continuous full-time experience in direct patient care practice as an RN within the last 3 years or eligibility for the Board of Registered Nurses approval to teach pediatrics nursing.
  • Demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population.
  • Evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students.
  • Background check required as a condition of employment.
  • Must comply with the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act as a mandated reporter.
  • Must have authorization from the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services to work in the United States if not a U.S. citizen at time of appointment.
  • Must disclose whether they have received a final administrative decision or final judicial decision determining that they have committed sexual harassment within the last 7 years only after a determination is made that they meet the minimum qualifications for the position, and before an offer of employment is extended.
  • Must sign a release form authorizing the release of information by current and/or former employers concerning any substantiated allegations of misconduct.
  • Must perform their work from within the State of California.
