About The Position

Founded in 2010, Coach Across America is a national service organization focused on the power of coaches to transform the lives of our nation's most vulnerable youth, and the communities they live in, through sports. Coach Across America partners with local nonprofits, schools, and sports organizations to support and train AmeriCorps coaches for a one-year service term in underserved communities. As a Coach Across America Community Engagement VISTA, you will contribute to expansion of our Coach Program in the Washington, DC metro area by increasing visibility, building partnerships, and developing operational capacity throughout the year. Your role will include an emphasis on Coach Across America’s She Changes the Game initiative to build a DC-based hub of coaches dedicated to growing girls’ participation in sport. During the program, you will have the opportunity to collaborate closely with the DC Program Director and build relationships with a network of partner organizations across the region. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with an interest in nonprofit management, community outreach, and girls empowerment through sport. Responsibilities

  • Increase CAA’s scale and reach in the Washington, DC metro area by raising program visibility, developing coach recruitment pipelines, and building operational capacity.
  • Place special emphasis on CAA's She Changes the Game initiative, a partnership with Monumental Sports & Entertainment to increase girls' participation in sport.
  • Generate content to share coach program impact.
  • Create flyers and other promotional materials that highlight CAA and its She Changes the Game priorities.
  • Build a local CAA alumni network.
  • Regularly attend community events.
  • Develop relationships with local coach recruitment partners.
  • Create a coach experience plan to increase effectiveness of service year.
