About The Position

As a Community Outreach & Engagement Project Leader for Essex County at STOP DSV, you will provide emergency support and advocacy to victims and survivors of intimate partner violence. Additionally, you will provide outreach and educational presentations throughout the community including and not limited to: community organizations, departments, and schools, organizing community events with support, and providing direct services for victims and survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.

Requirements

  • Associates degree with prior experience in related field preferred.
  • Experience in/knowledge of Intimate Partner Violence program/support services preferred.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license acceptable to BHSN insurance carrier required.
  • Reliable transportation for travel required.
  • Ability to work independently and complete all aspects of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Capable of working a flexible schedule to accommodate the needs of a 24-hour service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency support and advocacy to victims and survivors of intimate partner violence.
  • Provide outreach and educational presentations throughout the community including and not limited to: community organizations, departments, and schools.
  • Organize community events with support.
  • Provide direct services for victims and survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.
  • Participate in various intimate partner violence related trainings and meetings on a weekly/ monthly / quarterly basis.
  • Coordinate and provide educational presentations to professionals and groups within the community with approval.
  • Organize community events to share resources with potential victims in need of services.
  • Foster positive relationships with community partners to increase the quality of services that victims are receiving within the community.
  • Provide on-going services to victims of domestic violence including, but not limited to, supportive counseling, transportation, advocacy, safety planning, safe housing, child care, assistance filing court petitions as well as compensation claims with the Office of Victim Services, and follow-up to individuals as deemed appropriate.
  • Update, maintain, and complete program records on the schedule set forth by the Training Coordinator, Associate Program Director/Program Director.
  • Adhere to programmatic requirements regarding safeguarding confidentiality and maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
  • Participate in back-up coverage to volunteers on the hotline during non-business hours.
  • Provide outreach to the community.
  • Communicate agency philosophy about intimate partner and sexual violence.
  • Participate in agency initiatives, trainings, and staff meetings as required.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
