About The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator will support community relations and stakeholder engagement for mining exploration and development activities. Based in Butte, Montana, this role will cover operations near Butte and in Jefferson County, north of Butte. Candidates with strong ties to Butte are strongly preferred, ideally a Butte native or someone who has lived in the area for several years and is invested in the local community.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, community development, social performance, or a related field.
• Experience working with communities, landowners, or government agencies in rural or remote environments.
• Understanding of community engagement, land access, grievance management, and community development.
• Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and public speaking skills, including the ability to communicate key messages effectively.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills, with sound judgment and discretion.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Administration, or a related discipline preferred.
• Mining or natural resources industry experience preferred.
• Strong ties to Butte are strongly preferred, ideally a Butte native or someone who has lived in the area for several years and is invested in the local community.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with local communities, landowners, government representatives, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate community meetings, consultations, site visits, and engagement activities.
• Document, track, and follow up on community concerns and grievances, escalating significant issues as appropriate.
• Monitor community feedback and communicate emerging concerns to management and project teams.
• Coordinate with exploration, environmental, and permitting teams to incorporate community considerations into project activities.
• Prepare engagement updates, meeting summaries, and reports.
• Represent the organization professionally and respectfully in community and stakeholder interactions.
