About The Position

Anthropic is seeking a Community Engagement Manager based in Louisiana to serve as its on-the-ground presence in communities where its data centers are sited, built, and operated. The role sits on the Public Policy team and focuses on building trusted, lasting relationships with local stakeholders from site selection through construction and long-term operations. It includes elements of communications and government affairs, but is principally a relationship-building role. The manager will connect Anthropic’s Policy and Infrastructure teams with local officials, community organizations, economic development partners, and residents. The role involves identifying concerns early, explaining technical and operational plans in locally relevant terms, and building coalitions that support responsible project development. The person in this role will also create repeatable engagement processes and a playbook that can support Anthropic’s growing infrastructure footprint. Regular travel within Louisiana, up to 50% of the time, and occasional travel to other data center markets are required. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience. The required field of study must be relevant to the role, as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience. Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, though some roles may require more office time. The annual salary range is $265,000–$295,000. Anthropic describes its benefits as including competitive compensation, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office space for collaboration.

  • Ability to represent a company credibly in public settings, including town halls, hearings, and press interviews.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex operational plans in plain language.
  • Ability to work independently, quickly learn complex policy issues, and manage multiple concurrent engagements across different markets.
  • Based in Louisiana or willing to relocate there, and prepared to travel regularly across the state.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Relevant field of study, demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Nice To Haves
