About The Position

East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) has an opening for a Community Engagement & Local Government Services Manager in the Communications & Engagement Department. This role is crucial in shaping the future vitality of the St. Louis bi-state region. The position will ensure smooth day-to-day operations of an office of five staff members responsible for all EWG internal and external communications and public engagement, including all products outlined in the agency's Public Information Plan. This position includes direct management of two communications specialists. The department is responsible for many products and projects, including a weekly newsletter, a monthly internal newsletter, active social media platforms, digital presentations, written reports, an annual report, event programs, fact sheets, fliers, graphics, website content, and internal record-keeping and organizational tools. The department also works independently or with consultants to conduct public engagement events and supplementary materials.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year college or university with major coursework in public relations, journalism, or a directly related field.
At least one year of demonstrated managerial experience.
At least three years of experience in position(s) that include intensive writing and editing for multiple audiences and project management.

A master's degree in a directly related field may be substituted for a maximum of 1 year of experience.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operations of the Communications & Engagement Department.
Oversee internal and external communications and public engagement efforts.
Ensure all products outlined in the agency's Public Information Plan are executed.
Directly manage two communications specialists.
Develop and manage various communication products including newsletters, social media content, presentations, reports, and website content.
Work independently or with consultants to conduct public engagement events and develop supplementary materials.
