About The Position

The Community Engagement Coordinator (CEC) is a pivotal part of workforce development and other programming within Central & Southern Illinois. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for establishing community connections in program focus areas, and assisting with program expansion into these areas. Examples of such connections include community-based organizations, trade allies (contractors), workforce development agencies, municipalities, etc. The Community Engagement Coordinator will assist with laying the groundwork for program partnership, often in tandem with other Program Coordinators. The Community Engagement Coordinator is tasked specifically with establishing a program presence in underserved areas, which will require them to be a self-starter, skilled at establishing non-transactional relationships with community stakeholders, and a natural connector. The CEC will need to have strong verbal and written communication skills as they may also interface directly with utility and non-utility clients. The CEC will be responsible for ensuring that their initiatives are tracking to KPIs, and maintain a high degree of quality for all deliverables. They will be responsible for maintaining trackers of ongoing projects and will be responsible for preparing and delivering reports on the status of ongoing projects to program leadership and utility client staff. As the programs and communities the CEC serves are located in various regions of Central & Southern Illinois, intrastate travel will be required, including some overnight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screens
  • 2+ years of experience in workforce development, energy efficiency, community engagement, or similar fields
  • Experience working with partner organizations, stakeholders, nonprofits, or community organizations
  • Located within Central or Southern Illinois

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the day-to-day lead on various projects and programs
  • Interface with partners and clients to ensure progress to program KPIs
  • Establish a program presence in key target areas by engaging community stakeholders
  • Facilitate connections between new communities and existing workforce initiatives
  • Track program progress and KPIs using proprietary trackers
  • Establish procedures and plans for new and emerging programs
  • Engage and recruit program partners, allies and participants
  • Work with the program manager to establish clean energy programming
  • Perform program outreach to participants and partners
  • Serve as a liaison and partner for community members to become involved in clean energy
  • Provide regular project updates to program and utility team members
