About The Position

Village Media Ltd. is seeking a dynamic Community Engagement Coordinator to support the launch of their community impact organizations in up to 5 Wisconsin communities, starting with Appleton. This role is responsible for fostering community connection by working alongside local teams to ensure their digital town square is vibrant, supportive, and genuinely engaged. The coordinator will steward Village’s GoodWorks initiatives, which focus on supporting local changemakers, grassroots movements, and non-profits, and will also launch and grow SPACES, a localized alternative to traditional social media. This involves researching and posting content, recruiting and onboarding local "hosts" for various topics, and empowering local community groups to share their own updates and stories.

Requirements

  • Passion for community: Already active in the local community through volunteering, organizing neighborhood events, or championing local businesses.
  • Exceptional communication skills: Natural relationship-builder who writes with warmth, speaks with empathy, and listens with genuine curiosity.
  • Digital comfort: Comfortable navigating digital platforms, managing online forums, and learning new software.
  • Experience with online community moderation or social media management is a major asset.
  • Project management skills: Ability to juggle multiple moving parts.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: Self-starter comfortable working independently and building a presence from the ground up, especially for a launch role.
  • Residing within the assigned Wisconsin market (Appleton, Fond du Lac, Kaukauna, Manitowoc, or Sheboygan) or willing to relocate to this region.

Responsibilities

  • Steward Village’s GoodWorks initiatives, coordinating and executing local community impact programs such as the Community Builders Awards, Random Acts of Kindness, GoodWorks features, and Community Match Initiatives.
  • Launch and grow SPACES, a localized, safer, and algorithm-free alternative to traditional social media.
  • Research and post useful content to SPACES, such as upcoming local events.
  • Recruit and onboard local “hosts” for topics such as photography, gardening, reading, etc.
  • Identify, onboard, and support local community groups, clubs, and non-profits, empowering them to share their own updates, events, and stories directly on our platform.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $42,000 USD per annum.
