About The Position

WEAVE’s mission is to promote safe and healthy relationships and support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. WEAVE’s vision is that when everyone acts, violence ends. The Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Philanthropy team, WEAVE colleagues, community members, volunteers, donors, and business partners to achieve revenue goals and create meaningful engagement opportunities that support WEAVE’s strategic plan and the survivors it serves. This role will support WEAVE's fundraising events, serves as the primary point of contact for Community Partner Events benefiting WEAVE, coordinates in-kind donation drives and community giving initiatives, supports internal events and meetings, and manages volunteer engagement across the organization. The Community Engagement Coordinator also collaborates closely with WEAVE’s retail operations to support volunteer recruitment, engagement, and recognition efforts that enhance the success of volunteers at WEAVE’s retail locations. Success in this position is measured by the achievement of defined metrics—including revenue targets, in-kind donation goals, volunteer recruitment and retention, community engagement outcomes, and event success—as well as the satisfaction of community partners, donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders. The Community Engagement Coordinator thrives on managing multiple projects with strong attention to detail, builds and maintains positive relationships with diverse audiences, and brings fresh ideas that create meaningful opportunities for involvement and support. A results-driven mindset, strong collaborative skills, and a commitment to excellence in constituent experience are essential.

Requirements

  • Two years related experience in community engagement, project management, volunteer coordination, and/or event coordination.
  • Experience overseeing volunteers or staff.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 tools including use of SharePoint & Microsoft Teams, and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Strong computer skills including graphic design software and capacity to learn various online database, design and project management programs.
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor with clients, volunteers, staff, and community members.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to organize time effectively and work on a variety of projects in the same timeframe.
  • Proficiency with office machines, including computers, database systems, scanners
  • High level of accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Complete WEAVE’s peer counselor training program and pass background (post-hiring requirement).
  • Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • BA degree in applicable field preferred. Additional position related experience may be substituted
  • Two years professional experience in the nonprofit sector strongly desired.
  • Bilingual in spoken and written Spanish strongly desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and manage WEAVE’s Community Partner Events (events that raise funds or secure in-kind donations) including screening applications, providing event support, attending events or coordinating WEAVE representatives’ attendance, and managing donor relationships for event organizers.
  • Oversee process and organization of in-kind donations.
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of community partner event related donors and ensuring appropriate communications and stewardship in alignment with WEAVE’s ongoing donor engagement and stewardship efforts.
  • Work with Director of Philanthropy & Communications to identify marketing and media relations opportunities.
  • Manage logistics and execution of tasks in support of philanthropic events and meetings including vendor relations, permit and contracting, set up/breakdown, and volunteers and support staff.
  • Solicit donations for auctions and raffles.
  • Work with Director of Philanthropy & Communications to identify marketing and media relations needs and strategy.
  • Assist with event/meeting budgets, timelines, and materials and tracking progress.
  • Coordinate post-event evaluations and analysis.
  • Work with Director of Philanthropy & Communications to develop comprehensive sponsorship packages with a range of benefits and price options.
  • Provide support with sponsorship process including distribution of materials, invoicing, ensuring benefits are provided at levels promised, and providing exceptional customer service to sponsors and their guests.
  • Implement and analyze post event surveys.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteer inquiries.
  • Identify and manage volunteer needs for events or projects and recruit volunteers.
  • Act as the organization's subject matter expert for the volunteer management database, ensuring data accuracy, integrity, reporting, and effective utilization by staff and volunteers.
  • Collaborate and support WEAVE Thrift Volunteer Lead with thrift store volunteer activity.
  • Be an active member of local volunteer support organization.
  • Support departments that engage volunteers by coordinating onboarding requirements, verifying required trainings, and ensuring volunteer hours and participation are properly documented.
  • Lead volunteer orientation or WEAVE 101 trainings as needed.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation activities.
  • Implement and analyze volunteer surveys.
  • Provide training for volunteers as needed.
  • Attend and participate as a member of the Philanthropy Team in meetings to formulate and implement policies and plans to meet the organization’s goals.
  • Attend and participate in staff and other agency-wide meetings and committees.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
