About The Position

The Community Engagement Associate, under the supervision of the Director of Community Engagement, will manage data collection and reporting, resource creation and distribution, and administrative systems that support the team’s work. They will also help plan and attend community events to conduct outreach and distribute community-facing materials, and contribute to team-wide initiatives. Our ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, proficiency with digital tools, good communication skills, experience working with immigrant communities, and an interest in immigrant rights and advocacy.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization and/or community-oriented role.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to social justice, immigrant justice, and New York State's diverse immigrant communities preferred.
  • Strong research and writing skills a must.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or other foreign languages.
  • Proficiency with office software (e.g. Google Workspace), CRM database systems (e.g. Salesforce), and project management platforms (e.g. Asana).
  • Experience using graphic design tools (e.g. Canva) to create public-facing materials like documents, flyers and presentations.
  • Some evening and weekend work expected (compensated accordingly).
  • Valid driver license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage data collection and record keeping for Community Engagement events using Salesforce, spreadsheets, shared drives, and other tools.
  • Assist in grant management and reporting, including tracking of deliverables, budgets, and expenses
  • Create and maintain systems that support the Community Engagement team in coordinating events and communication with partner organizations.
  • Propose and implement improvements to team workflow and processes
  • Support the development and maintenance of community-facing materials, such as training curriculums, slide decks, policy guides, one-pagers, etc. in collaboration with the Community Engagement team
  • Manage inventory of materials, communication with vendors and suppliers, and coordination with internal Finance team on invoices and payments.
  • Manage KYR materials request process and fulfill shipments to partner organizations
  • Coordinate and participate in community events to address community needs and build awareness of NYIC resources
  • Deliver Know Your Rights workshops and other trainings to community members and partner organizations
  • Contribute to organizational rapid response events and projects as necessary
  • May occasionally carry or move materials weighing up to 50 pounds
