About The Position

The Community Education Coordinator plans, coordinates, implements, and evaluates evidence-based and evidence-informed educational programs that support healthy aging, lifelong learning, and community engagement for adults age 55 and better throughout Delaware County. Working collaboratively with community partners, volunteers, and internal departments, this position helps expand access to educational opportunities that empower older adults to maintain independence, improve well-being, and navigate the opportunities and challenges of longer lives. Programs include falls prevention, healthy living, retirement readiness, and other topics that promote successful aging.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with the issues surrounding aging, such as health maintenance and chronic disease awareness, legal and financial planning, and resources available to older adults in the support and maintenance of their health.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and public speaking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of partners, including fellow staff members, community organizations, volunteers, clients, and human services professionals
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently
  • Fluency with basic software products, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to promote a positive work culture within the organization, project a positive image of the organization in the community, and to routinely interact with the general public
  • Ability to be creative and deal with ambiguity and change on a routine basis, including situational flexibility and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Associate degree required
  • Two years of experience facilitating programs or education activities preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, and delivering educational programs, group presentations, and training, preferably for adult learners.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. on a regular basis without assistance
  • Ability to drive to and from program sites
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, when necessary

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Communications, Public Health, Social Work, Human Services, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement educational programs throughout Delaware County and at SourcePoint locations.
  • Manage all aspects of program delivery, including scheduling, registration, materials, room setup, technology needs, and participant communication.
  • Coordinate and support guest speakers, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Provide ongoing coaching to volunteers to ensure quality program delivery.
  • Facilitate and co-facilitate workshops, presentations, and evidence-based programs that support departmental goals and respond to evolving community needs and interests.
  • Ensure programs are delivered with fidelity to curriculum requirements and organizational standards.
  • Collect and maintain participant records, evaluations, attendance data, and other required documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external organizations to coordinate room reservations, marketing efforts, and participant support.
  • Assess participants and community needs to develop and enhance educational offerings.
  • Research and recommend new programs that align with organizational goals and the needs of older adults and caregivers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other partners.
  • Represent SourcePoint at community events, coalitions, and outreach activities.
  • Participate in collaborations related to healthy aging and falls prevention.
  • Expand educational opportunities through partnerships and community engagement efforts.
  • Obtain and maintain required facilitator and trainer certifications.
  • Stay current on best practices and emerging trends related to aging, wellness, and community education.
  • Support grant-funded programs through data collection, reporting, and program implementation.
  • Assist with grant applications, reporting requirements, and outcome measurement activities.
