About The Position

The Caring Place (@Miami Rescue Mission & Broward Outreach Centers) is a leading provider of services to the homeless and needy of South Florida. We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for “at-risk” youth. We are currently seeking a FT Community Development Supervisor at the Broward Outreach Centers in Hollywood, FL. JOB SUMMARY The Community Development Supervisor (CDS) reports to the Community Development Director and is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and strategic direction to key Community Development functions at our Centers. The CDS plays a vital role in advancing the organization's fundraising, volunteer engagement, community outreach, and donor relations efforts. The CDS supervises Community Development team members and works collaboratively with internal departments, community leaders, businesses, civic organizations, and supporters to increase awareness, engagement, volunteer participation, gifts-in-kind, and financial contributions that support The Caring Place programs and services. This position oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of outreach initiatives, volunteer programs, donor cultivation activities, and community events. The CDS ensures that Community Development activities are aligned with organizational goals and are effectively implemented to maximize community impact at our Centers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, volunteer management, community engagement, public relations, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Ability to travel locally and attend meetings, outreach events, and community functions.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and move throughout office and event environments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, donors, and the public.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions in both office and community settings.
  • Level 2 Background Screening is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree or bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct supervision, coaching, training, and performance oversight for Community Development staff, interns, and volunteers as assigned.
  • Leads team meetings and ensures accountability for departmental goals, objectives, and deadlines.
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategies to strengthen fundraising, volunteer engagement, donor stewardship, and community partnerships.
  • Fosters a collaborative, mission-focused culture that promotes excellence, teamwork, and professional growth.
  • Supervises Community Development staff and volunteers at the assigned Center.
  • Provides guidance, support, and accountability to ensure team members successfully fulfill their responsibilities.
  • Assists in establishing departmental goals, monitoring performance metrics, and evaluating outcomes.
  • Promotes a positive and professional work environment that reflects the mission and values of The Caring Place.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community leaders, businesses, civic groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Represents the organization at community meetings, networking events, speaking engagements, and outreach activities.
  • Identifies and cultivates new partnerships that increase volunteer involvement, gifts-in-kind donations, fundraising opportunities, and community awareness.
  • Encourages participation in FOCUS groups, volunteer initiatives, donation drives, and ambassador programs.
  • Supports fundraising efforts by cultivating donor relationships and identifying opportunities for financial support.
  • Works closely with donors, community partners, and supporters to increase contributions through monetary gifts, gifts-in-kind, sponsorships, and special campaigns.
  • Assists with donor stewardship activities, ensuring meaningful engagement and communication throughout the year.
  • Supports special events and fundraising initiatives that advance The Caring Place's development goals.
  • Oversees volunteer engagement efforts to ensure meaningful and impactful service opportunities.
  • Strengthens relationships with volunteer groups.
  • Assists in coordinating volunteer groups, outreach events, and service projects.
  • Maintains accurate records and reporting related to donations, volunteer participation, outreach activities, and community engagement efforts.
  • Assists in preparing monthly and annual reports to evaluate performance and measure outcomes.
  • Utilizes database systems and reporting tools to track donor engagement, volunteer activity, fundraising results, and community partnerships.
  • Supports data-driven decision-making by identifying trends and opportunities for growth.
  • Leads and/or participates in devotions, prayer, chapel services, outreach events, and other ministry activities.
  • Must agree with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
