About The Position

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking to hire a Community Corrections Unit Supervisor. This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the daily operations of a Community Corrections center.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of Arizona Criminal Code and criminal/civil court and administrative hearing procedures
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and agency laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing the adult community corrections system
  • Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques of motivational investigating, surveillance, interviewing and assessing
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of caseload management
  • Knowledge of cultural and socioeconomic differences and effects on human behaviors
  • Knowledge of Adult Community Corrections management, supervision, and administrative practices
  • Knowledge of application of evidence-based community risk and needs models
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based best principles and practices
  • Skill in verbal and written communication
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining an effective working relationship
  • Skill in interpreting and applying Arizona Criminal Code and applicable laws, rules, and policies
  • Skill in conducting investigations, searches, surveillance, and interviews

  • Ability to maintain annual qualification and proficiency in firearms use/safety topics
  • Must attend and complete the Corrections Officer Training Academy (COTA) and the Community Corrections Officer Training Academy.
  • All employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college or must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program of study at an accredited university or college or 6 years of experience in the corrections/criminal justice or social services field with at least two of those years be in holding a caseload or case management, Or 8 years or more of experience in a related field.
  • Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks.
  • All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of experience as a Community Corrections Officer or equivalent work experience
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in social service, criminal justice or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Provides oversight of daily operations within a specific unit through subordinates
  • Serves as the designated backup supervisor of a metropolitan parole office in the absence of the Community Corrections Group Supervisor (CCGS)
  • Recommends warrants and placement or release of jail holds
  • Arrests and takes community supervision violators into custody
  • Ensures compliance with statutory laws and agency policy and procedures
  • Assigns cases, reviews work, and makes recommendations of work assignments for staff
  • Functions as a field training officer (FTO)
  • Implements training programs for staff development
  • Periodically and annually evaluates and assesses staff attendance, performance and provides input on career development assessments, evaluations, and feedback
  • Provides timely and appropriate case management to adult offenders
  • Supports successful reintegration of offenders into a productive and responsible community life
  • Identifies violations of conditions of release and applies appropriate sanctions
  • Completes risks and need assessments
  • Attends staff meetings and various trainings
  • Drives on State business
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
