About The Position

This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. The assistant will support the collection of stories from community members impacted by the Vanport Flood for a digital archive and related memory activism projects. The position also involves engaging community elders in dialogue using the Belief/Culture/Identity/Experiences framework and developing articles and stories that highlight community connection, strength, and resiliency.

Requirements

• Must have Federal Work Study funds in the Financial Aid package.
• Must be a currently enrolled University of Portland undergraduate student.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Attention to detail.
• Strong organizational ability.
• Working proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience in a collaborative team environment.
• Strong writing proficiency.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with transcription.
• Experience with interviews.
• Trauma-informed trainings.
• Familiarity with social media platforms.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience working with digital databases.
