About The Position

Plans, implements, and evaluates community clinical educational programs and clinical experiences for future, current, and advanced practice healthcare professionals on behalf of Nebraska Methodist College's Division of Diversity and Community Partnerships. The work schedule is flexible, with community-based clinics typically lasting 4-6 hours, dependent on community need, which includes weekend days and occasional evenings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) required. Those who are in pursuit of Masters of Science in Nursing degree will be considered. MSN must be obtained within 2 years.
  • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required.
  • Current valid Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multi-state license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required for the work-state.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and medical judgement skills required.
  • Advanced skills in standard software applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); internet research skills; ability to master fluency in web-based software technologies, database software, and registration systems.
  • Excellent communication, writing skills, and attention to detail.
  • Prepare clear and concise written communications, and make oral presentations; communicate effectively with diverse groups; being able to speak in front of, and manage large groups is mandatory.
  • Skill and ability to adapt to changing technology; work independently; utilize critical thinking skills; organize and prioritize work; coordinate a variety of projects simultaneously; read, interpret, research, explain, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to department business; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Exceptional customer service and supportive relationship skills essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) program graduate preferred.
  • Prior experience in project management and data analysis preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
  • Relevant experience in online course delivery and content managements systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and plans educational needs based on multiple data sources.
  • Assumes accountability for program purpose and outcomes.
  • Adheres to applicable regulatory and accreditation guidelines for educational activities.
  • Networks in the community to build relationships with current and future community clinic sites.
  • Implements annual needs assessment to evaluate current partnerships and future needs.
  • Participates in community clinical advisory boards, when possible, and represents NMC in the community.
  • Collects, evaluates, and presents community data to college, foundation, and community stakeholders.
  • Expands community clinical opportunities to new programs through collaboration with program leadership.
  • Expands current services offered through community clinical.
  • Facilitates clear formulation of learning objectives/outcomes demonstrated by thorough course planning, and thorough preparation for clinical sessions.
  • Communicates effectively with students and challenges them to go beyond what is required.
  • Demonstrates integrity, open-mindedness, and objectivity in presenting material.
  • Relates the subject to other areas of knowledge.
  • Collaborates with course faculty in the development of curriculum.
  • Ensures punctuality and reliability in conduct of classes.
  • Revises courses as needed to increase effectiveness.
  • Coordinates clinical education with didactic education and evaluates its effectiveness.
  • Participates in clinical instructional activities (e.g., student evaluation, student observation, instruction).
  • Develops clinical partnerships to provide clinical site options for faculty with regular visits to each site.
  • Maintains accurate clinical log/records of all clinical communications (interactions with students/faculty, phone conversations, site visit notes, etc.).
  • Promptly replies and follows-up with clinical faculty, clinical student or clinical affiliate regarding concerns and issues.
  • Collaborates with the program director in the review of clinical materials, accreditation activities and general program support.
  • Accurately and fairly enforces program and clinical policies.
  • Assumes responsibility for resolving student questions and concerns.
  • Facilitates communication among the College and clinical affiliates.
  • Collaborates with Program Directors in the review, revision and development of policies.
  • Supports program marketing, recruitment, admission and retention efforts to ensure enrollment goals and fiscal performance goals are met.
  • Provides exceptional customer service.
  • Acts as liaison for department.
  • Interprets and applies department office policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Communicates information in a clear and timely manner to leadership, peers, and stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses conflict.
  • Negotiates fair solutions to conflict and makes difficult decisions when necessary.
  • Serves effectively on assigned committees.
  • Supports college strategic initiatives.
  • Participates in required meetings and events as appropriate to the position.
  • Fulfills mandatory compliance requirements.
  • Clearly articulates and supports college and departmental policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Director Diversity and Community Partnerships.
