The Community Civil Rights Coordinator performs advanced professional work coordinating and facilitating advisory board administration, public complaint process administration, public education, and strategic initiatives for the Office of Community Well-Being and Civil Rights. The position serves as the primary staff liaison to the Public Safety Civilian Oversight Board (PSCOB) and Human Relations Commission (HRC), supports the Athens Justice & Memory Project, administers the procedural aspects of the public safety complaint process established by ordinance, maintains official records, and coordinates outreach and educational efforts. The position also collaborates with Human Resources to support organizational compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, including related data collection and assessment, recordkeeping, monitoring, and reporting activities. The position supports assigned advisory boards by providing objective information, procedural guidance, research, and administrative support necessary to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities in accordance with applicable ordinances, policies, and established procedures. The position exercises professional judgment within delegated authority while recognizing when matters require consultation with the Assistant Manager, Attorney’s Office, or other appropriate officials.
