About The Position

Community Canvassers and Team Leaders are needed to collect signatures for important ballot initiatives. These initiatives aim to expand the LA Fire Department, modernize facilities, hold large corporations accountable, and invest more money back into communities. This role involves engaging with people face-to-face in public spaces, having meaningful conversations, and inspiring them to take action. It offers experience in leadership, communication, advocacy, community outreach, public policy, and social enterprise. The campaign is committed to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism, and strongly encourages applications from underrepresented groups.

Requirements

Eligible to work in the US
Must present original, and unexpired documents from the Lists of Acceptable Documents to complete the I-9 form verification upon hire

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working in a public-facing role like canvassing, petitioning, customer service, sales, or service industry

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect petition signatures from voters
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
Strictly follow the campaign's safety protocols
Strictly adhere to all local and state circulator laws
Manage a small group of circulators out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
Ensure each circulator has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful
Assist directors with circulator training and administrative work
