About The Position

Community Canvasser - Michiganders for Money out of Politics (MMOP) is seeking individuals to collect signatures for an important ballot initiative aimed at increasing transparency, accountability, and fairness in elections. The campaign seeks to engage voters directly in public spaces through one-on-one conversations to gather signatures for this citizen-led reform effort. This role offers experience in leadership, communication, advocacy, community outreach, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise.

Requirements

Eligible to work in the US
Must present original, and unexpired documents from the Lists of Acceptable Documents to complete the I-9 form verification upon hire
Passionate about the campaign issue and fostering democracy
Strong communication skills; enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
Open to new opportunities and interested in building campaign skills
Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
Can work and problem-solve collaboratively as necessary

Nice To Haves

Prior experience working in a public-facing role like canvassing, petitioning, customer service, sales, or service industry is a plus

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect petition signatures from voters
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
Strictly follow the campaign's safety protocols
Strictly adhere to all local and state circulator laws
Manage a small group of circulators out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
Ensure each circulator has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful
Assist directors with circulator training and administrative work
