About The Position

University of Nevada, Reno Extension is seeking an enthusiastic, community-minded professional to join their team as a Community Based Instructor 3 supporting the 4-H Youth Development Program in Pershing County. This is an in-person position based out of Lovelock, NV. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to help young people develop leadership, life, and workforce readiness skills while building meaningful connections with volunteers, families, schools, and community partners throughout Pershing County. The successful candidate will be passionate about working with youth, enjoy building relationships within the community, and possess strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • Candidates must complete a fingerprinting/background check.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support a variety of youth development programs that enrich the lives of local youth and strengthen community engagement.
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and support adult volunteers who deliver 4-H programming throughout the county.
  • Develop strategies to recruit and engage youth in 4-H programs and activities.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate school-based and after-school youth programs.
  • Assist with curriculum implementation and program development to meet community needs.
  • Organize and support 4-H events, activities, workshops, and educational opportunities.
  • Build collaborative partnerships with Extension faculty and staff, county personnel, schools, community organizations, and families.
  • Support continuous program improvement through planning, evaluation, and assessment efforts.
  • Provide training and support to after-school educators and youth program providers.
