About The Position

As a Community Based BHIS Caseworker at Tanager, you will have the opportunity to change lives by helping children build self-confidence and discover their potential. Tanager, established in 1879, is the first children's human services agency in Linn County, dedicated to supporting children and families. The organization serves over 4,000 children and teens annually through prevention, treatment, and outreach programs, operating as a non-profit community focused on inspiring, empowering, and healing. In this role, you will work directly with children and their families, providing skill-building services to address their mental health needs. Services are client-centered, strengths-based, professional, and compassionate. You will encourage positive behaviors and actions, and coordinate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for the child and family. Skill-building focuses on seven key areas: cognitive flexibility, communication, conflict resolution, executive functioning, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, and social skills. The position offers scheduling flexibility to meet clients and families at times that best support their needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in social work or related human services field
  • Minimum of one-year relevant post-degree experience in the human services field
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
  • Must possess a valid Drivers License and meet the driving requirements of the Agency

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with children and their families to provide skill building services addressing their mental health needs
  • Deliver direct care services that are client-centered, strengths-based, professional and compassionate
  • Work closely with clients to encourage positive behaviors and actions
  • Provide indirect coordination and collaboration with other professionals to ensure comprehensive services that benefit the child and family
  • Focus skill-building services on cognitive flexibility, communication, conflict resolution, executive functioning, interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, and social skills
  • Meet with clients and their families at predetermined times that best support their needs
