About The Position

We operate over 30 locations across central BC, serving diverse communities from the coastline to mountains, river valleys, and agricultural fields. We are proud to be a part of these communities. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, the Community and Indigenous Relations Coordinator will support the development and implementation of community engagement, partnership, and Indigenous relations initiatives. This position plays an important role in building respectful, collaborative, and mutually beneficial relationships that support Four Rivers Co-op's strategic goals and community presence.

Requirements

  • A certificate, diploma, or post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Indigenous Relations, Communications, Public Relations, Community Development, or a related field.
  • Three to six years of progressive experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, communications, marketing, partnership development, customer relations, or a related field.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience coordinating events, meetings, community initiatives, or stakeholder engagement activities.
  • The ability to work respectfully and collaboratively with diverse groups and communities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software applications.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities, municipalities, community organizations, or non-profit groups.
  • Experience in marketing, communications, or community relations.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and the ability to travel throughout Four Rivers Co-op's trading area (Required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sales, business development, customer relationship management, and/or working with Indigenous communities would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of local Indigenous Nations, communities, cultures, and protocols would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with Indigenous Nations, community leaders, municipalities, businesses, non-profit organizations, government representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinating meetings, community events, open houses, engagement sessions, site visits, and partnership activities.
  • Supporting consultation and engagement initiatives by gathering feedback, identifying opportunities, and helping address community priorities and concerns.
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of community, partner, and Indigenous relations strategies and work plans.
  • Supporting sponsorships, community investment initiatives, partnership agreements, employment initiatives, and other collaborative opportunities.
  • Preparing presentations, reports, newsletters, meeting summaries, correspondence, and engagement materials.
  • Coordinating logistics for community events, outreach activities, cultural awareness initiatives, and stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Tracking commitments, maintaining accurate records, and supporting reporting on community and Indigenous relations activities.
  • Working closely with the Sales team and senior leadership to identify opportunities that strengthen relationships and support business growth within local communities.
