About The Position

Stride is seeking a college intern pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in social sciences, computer science or data science. The Community Analytics Intern will work with a team focused on developing and implementing metrics and insights for online communities via analyzing chat streams. The intern will work collaboratively with product and technical experts as well as other interns on the project but is expected to be able to work independently on assigned projects and contribute original ideas to accomplish team goals. We are looking for smart and ambitious individuals who thrive on the challenge of asking the right questions, analyzing data to find context-driven answers, and translating those findings into actionable insights that make a difference for our customer communities. This is an opportunity to work on a small, innovative project with a startup vibe within a larger company as the new product is taken to market.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma OR Currently pursuing a BS/BA or MS/MA degree
  • Passionate about translating data into actionable insight in context of the human experience the data represents.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and execution skills.
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to listen effectively, respect others’ perspectives and contributions, and offer and accept constructive feedback.
  • Ability to clear required background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases
  • Familiarity with Discord and other online communities
  • Python programming and familiarity with core data libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy, matplotlib, scikit learn)
  • WordPress and/or HTML, php, javascript

Responsibilities

  • Perform data manipulation, analysis and presentation; For some roles, build web application components including back-end API connectivity.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Pursue deep, exploratory understanding of data in raw and curated forms to expand our knowledge of its real-world context.
  • Engage with customers and conduct potential-customer pipeline research.
  • Ensure that work projects are documented and hit closure points such that work product can be fully incorporated into ongoing workflows.

Benefits

  • Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $22/hr.
