About The Position

At Block by Block, we employ Ambassadors to make public spaces better by making them friendlier, safer, and cleaner for the communities we serve.

Requirements

• Must have a valid Driver’s License for the state of Nevada
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to traverse on foot, bicycle, or vehicle continuously during an 8-hour shift, with normal breaks.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions with the provided inclement weather uniforms.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Nice To Haves

• One year of hospitality, community service, or customer service experience preferred. Will train.

Responsibilities

• Traverse the designated zone on foot, bicycle, or vehicle to provide a high level of visibility and to carry out a variety of tasks to improve the overall appearance and safety of the area.
• Engage pedestrians and visitors with a friendly greeting/smile to provide directions and city info.
• With a rolling trash can, remove litter: fast food bags, cups, soda cans, cigarette butts, etc. Remove graffiti and posters from light posts, trash cans, etc. Clean outdoor surfaces.
• Pulls weeds from the base of trees, in cracks in the sidewalks/lots, etc.
• Operates a large pressure washer to clean sidewalks, streets, and other areas.
• Operate an ATLV or litter vacuum to sweep up litter, debris, leaves, etc.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons committing low-level crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Identifies unhoused individuals in need, establishes relationships, and introduces them to agencies to help meet their needs. Establishes mutual respect to reduce the public nuisance perception of homelessness.
