About The Position

This position is an independent contractor of the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado, and in this role, the Community Action Partner will serve as a liaison between community and Xcel Energy Colorado. As a representative of LCFC, the Community Action Partner will engage with community members, offering support and resources while directing them to the appropriate Xcel Energy CO programs and representatives. They will act as a valuable community feedback loop, ensuring that community needs and voices are heard. In this role, The Community Action Partner will learn specific community engagement approaches, enhancing strategies to support and connect with community members. In addition, as a Community Action Partner, you will build on your leadership skills, contribute to energy literacy, and promote renewable energy options. Your participation in this work would allow you to make vital resources more accessible, positively impacting community well-being.

Requirements

  • Local resident or lived experience representing the geographic area being served.
  • Comfortable using technology, performing data entry and utilizing search engines (Google, Bing, etc.).
  • Active community member or volunteer, demonstrating investment in community wellbeing.
  • Ability to manage conflict and maintain a positive, personable attitude.
  • Dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Able to attend community events as needed.
  • Periodic travel required.
  • Must have a valid Colorado driver license, up to date insurance and reliable car or access to public transportation.
  • Must live in, or in close proximity to the following cities/counties Denver, Aurora, Jefferson County, Larimer County, Boulder County, Alamosa County, Conejos County and Costilla County.
  • Must have access to reliable Wi-Fi and cellphone.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a community advocate and provide recommendations to improve programming and enhance Xcel programs.
  • Participate in weekly/quarterly check-ins virtually and in-person meetings with LGA/consultants to provide updates/information about the Power Together program with the LCFC team.
  • Conduct the collection of feedback and stories that can identify barriers and inform decisions around communities' access to appropriate and cost-saving programs and services.
  • Engage with community by attending outreach events, community gatherings, and meetings that may occur outside of traditional work hours including evenings and or on weekends.
  • Establish rapport and build trusted relationships with Power Together team members.
  • Organize and hold gatherings and one-on-one meetings with community members to listen, gain insights, and provide feedback through Power Together Hubs.
  • Participate in ongoing leadership development focused on developing community engagement strategies, increasing energy literacy and knowledge of renewable energy options.
  • Support Power Together team members in developing and presenting appropriate and cost-saving programs and services during community meetings, with a focus on addressing community needs.
  • Co-create feedback loop with Power Together team to share insights and gather changes from Power Together team to inform community.
