About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Communications System Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers performing software prototyping of communications systems. This role involves a mix of technical management (approximately 40%) and individual contributor technical performance (approximately 60%). The team will focus on prototyping communication system digital signal processing algorithms in software (Python/C++). These prototype implementations will be used for applications such as truth models for hardware description language (HDL) implementation for FPGA and embedded software systems, and quick-reaction capability (QRC) deployment of software on server, laptop, and embedded general purpose processor systems.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • 10+ years of experience with digital signal processing software development
  • Python development experience in a professional environment
  • BS EE or similar

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with one or more software-defined radio framework such as GNU Radio or X-Midas
  • Experience with communications performance analysis in the presence of a variety of channel impairments
  • C/C++ development experience in a professional environment
  • Previous exposure to FPGA systems and/or HDL development
  • Previous exposure to electronic warfare topics (electronic supper, electronic attack)
  • MS EE or similar

Responsibilities

  • Personnel manager for a small team of communications systems software prototyping practitioners
  • Supports hiring of additional engineering team members
  • Works with staff project managers to balance task loading of direct reports across a group of related individual projects
  • Works with staff communications systems subject matter experts to define priorities and lines of tasking and manage execution by the team
  • Works with team to estimate level-of-effort required to complete various modeling and simulation tasks
  • Provides technical mentoring for junior engineer direct reports
  • Implements and encourages software development best practices (gitlab workflows with issues and merge requests) amongst the team
  • Self-assigns and completes technical tasks as an individual contributor (approx. 60%)
