Are you a hands-on, strategic communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment? Protective’s Corporate Communications team is looking for a summer intern who’s ready to dive in, take ownership and make an impact. If you're a strong writer and creative thinker who enjoys producing content across platforms, this opportunity is for you. You’ll support storytelling, content creation and employee engagement, helping translate complex topics into clear, engaging messaging. Projects include internal newsletters, campaign planning and company updates—all while gaining exposure to Protective’s values-driven culture and cross-functional teams. Our Internship Program is an annual 8-week program that provides high-performing college students with hands-on experience working with an organization that has been recognized by Forbes as one of America’s Best Midsize Employers in 2025. This program will include the opportunity to participate in personal mentoring and insight into our business operations. Interns will have the opportunity to collaborate with business leaders to develop and execute solutions to real business problems. In addition to gaining meaningful work experience, interns will have the opportunity to participate in various community and professional development events.

Requirements

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and tone
  • Quick researcher with ability to find and synthesize information efficiently
  • Comfortable taking initiative and ownership of tasks from start to finish
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
  • Collaborative mindset and willingness to actively engage with execution of projects
  • Undergraduate or Graduate students. This program is designed and optimized for rising Junior or Senior Undergraduate students.
  • Students must be actively enrolled in either an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program as of May 31st, 2027 to be eligible.
  • Majors: Open to students pursuing degrees in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, English, Business Administration, and other related fields.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Canva or other design tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Draft and edit internal communications content for Indigo, Protective’s intranet platform
  • Assist in writing and producing weekly news emails for employees
  • Support copy editing and proofreading across various communications
  • Create visual content using Canva and PowerPoint for internal campaigns
  • Conduct research to support storytelling and communications planning
  • Help maintain and update content on Indigo
  • Collaborate with team members on communications initiatives and special projects
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas
