About The Position

Fort Worth Country Day seeks a creative, energetic and motivated Communications Specialist to help tell the story of our extraordinary school community. This individual will serve as a key storyteller and content creator, bringing FWCD’s story to audiences through compelling written, visual and digital communications. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for identifying, developing and sharing meaningful stories that showcase the people, programs, achievements and experiences that make Fort Worth Country Day exceptional. Through social media, video production, photography, eNewsletters, print publications, and more, this individual will help strengthen engagement with current families, faculty and staff, alumni, grandparents, and prospective families. The ideal candidate is a creative self-starter who thrives on discovering stories, generating fresh ideas, and producing engaging content. They are equally comfortable interviewing students and faculty, creating social media campaigns, capturing video at school events and activities, and writing polished articles, newsletters and social media posts. This individual is proactive, organized, deadline-driven, and capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues across campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field and 1-2 years of experience.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with proficiency in AP Style.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms and digital communications.
  • Experience with photography, videography and video editing.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and other content creation tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and take initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an active storyteller for the School by identifying, researching, writing and producing compelling stories that highlight student experiences, faculty excellence, community impact, school traditions and more.
  • Develop and write engaging stories for the weekly FWCD Update eNewsletter; edit, proofread and assist in the eNewsletter’s production.
  • Conduct interviews and gather content to write and create videos that bring the FWCD experience to life for internal and external audiences.
  • Attend JK-12 events to showcase interesting content across multiple platforms, including social media, newsletters, videos and print publications.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, students and administrators to uncover and share interesting stories that reflect the School’s mission, values, strategic initiatives and focus areas, as defined.
  • Coordinate with Division Administrative Assistants and other campus partners to gather Division News dates and Announcements information.
  • Lead management and content planning for FWCD’s multiple social media platforms via Meta and other content management tools.
  • Monitor trends and emerging platforms to ensure FWCD’s content remains relevant and innovative.
  • Create social media campaigns that highlight the joy of teaching and learning at FWCD.
  • Develop creative campaigns that strengthen community connections and elevate the School’s story.
  • Create, edit and publish original, creative content, including short-form videos, reels, photography, graphics and written posts that highlight the School’s vibrant daily life.
  • Work with the Admission team to create campaigns that promote prospective student and family events.
  • Serve as a visible and engaged member of the FWCD community, participating fully in campus life to identify and share meaningful stories.
  • Support Advancement events and initiatives through communications planning, storytelling, content creation, and event coverage with the Communications Manager.
  • Assist with special events and projects as assigned throughout the year.
  • Manage and curate FWCD’s photo archive platform, Vidigami.
