About The Position

The Communications Specialist for AirCare, Nights, will operate all radios, computer systems, and other equipment associated with MedCenter Air. This role requires knowledge of the range, capabilities, and limitations of aircraft and vehicles to ensure the most appropriate mode of transport and vehicle is assigned to each request. The specialist will coordinate all aspects of the mission in a timely manner, monitor the location of all transport units, and prioritize safety. Responsibilities also include collecting and maintaining accurate records of pre and post-transport patient documentation and transport records, confirming prescheduled transports, and demonstrating appropriate management and cost-effective use of supplies and equipment. Submitting department changes and credits in a timely manner is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current EMT certification required or must obtain EMT certification within one year of hire.
  • IAMTCS Certified Flight Communicator (CFC) certification or equivalent must be obtained within one year of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • EMT-P certification preferred.
  • 2 years of previous EMS/Fire/Law Enforcement/Critical Care dispatching experience preferred.
  • 1 year previous flight coordination (Rotor and/or Fixed Wing) experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and maintains accurate records of information; including pre and post-transport patient documentation and transport records.
  • Confirms prescheduled transports on day of transport.
  • Demonstrates appropriate management and cost effective use of supplies and equipment.
  • Submits department changes and credits in a timely manner.
