Job Summary:
The AirCare Program Educator (APE) works collaboratively to assess, identify, plan, implement, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate educational activities through the AirCare program. Performing under the direct supervision of the Executive Director-AirCare and Hospital educators team and indirectly with the designated Base Manager, this position is responsible for the coordination and delivery of clinical education programs for internal personnel, as well as general support of community outreach educational programs. The AirCare Program Educator supports and implement, document, and modify evidence-based, quality, and educational programs and activities that promote professional competency and role performance for nursing and paramedic staff. The APE Practitioner also supports patient care by being a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment in a functional role. It is expected that all APE Clinical Paramedics are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing/paramedicine as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act/State Boards of EMS and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 180 Days or ARC-ALS - Amer Red Cross Advanced Life Support within 180 Days or ACLS-I - ACLS - Instructor within 180 Days
• NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program or ARC-NALS - Amer Red Cross Neonatal Advanced Life Support or NRP-P - NRP-Provisional (180 Days) within 180 Days
• PALS - Pediatric Adv Life Support within 180 Days or ARC-PALS - Amer Red Cross Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 180 Days or PALS-I - PALS - Instructor within 180 Days
• PHTLS - PreHosp Trauma Life Support within 180 Days or ITLS - Intl Trauma Life Support or ATCN - Adv Trauma Care for Nurses Cer within 180 Days or TNCC - Trauma Nurse Core Course or TNCC-P - Trauma Nurse Core Course - Provisional (18 Months) within 180 Days or ATLS - Advanced Trauma Life Support or TPATC - Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course
• Minimum 3 years of paramedicine or prehospital practice experience Required

• Develop, coordinate, manage, facilitate, conduct, and evaluate onboarding, orientation, and competency programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.

Responsibilities

• Develop and Implement Educational Programs: Design, develop, and deliver comprehensive educational curricula and training programs tailored to the unique challenges of air medical transport, including critical care protocols, flight safety, and emergency response.
• Conduct Training and Competency Evaluations: Facilitate hands-on and didactic training sessions for flight nurses, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and EMTs; evaluate their clinical and operational competencies regularly to ensure high standards of care and safety.
• Maintain Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all educational activities and materials comply with FAA regulations, state and federal healthcare standards, and accreditation requirements such as CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems).
• Monitor and Improve Quality and Safety: Analyze clinical and operational data to identify trends and areas for improvement; develop targeted educational interventions to enhance patient care outcomes and flight safety.
• Collaborate with Clinical and Operational Leadership: Work closely with medical directors, base supervisors, program director, and operational staff to identify training needs, update protocols, and integrate new clinical guidelines and technologies into educational content.
• Support Onboarding and Continuing Education: Lead orientation and ongoing education for new and existing team members, fostering continuous professional development and ensuring staff remain current with best practices.
• Document and Report Educational Activities: Maintain accurate records of training attendance, competency assessments, and certification status; prepare reports for leadership and regulatory agencies as required.
• Stay Current with Industry Trends and Advances: Continuously research and integrate emerging evidence-based practices, technologies, and educational methods relevant to air medical transport and critical care.
• Coordinate Simulation and Drills: Organize and lead simulation exercises and emergency drills that replicate in-flight scenarios to prepare the team for real-world critical incidents and enhance teamwork and communication skills.
