About The Position

The Communications Specialist for Air Care - Nights is responsible for ensuring a smooth inbound and outbound patient transfer process by serving as the liaison between referring facilities and Wake Forest Baptist Health (WFBH). This role involves managing AirCare dispatching, flight following, and tracking to ensure the safety of the flight crew. The specialist will receive transport requests, arrange the appropriate mode of transport, and document all pertinent information. Additionally, the position requires adherence to hospital standards to foster a cooperative work environment and active participation in professional development through department education programs.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Current Emergency Medical Technician certification or Emergency Medical Dispatch certification required.
Basic computer skills with ability to navigate within multiple screens comfortably
Typing speed of 35 wpm minimum
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work within a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

Two years dispatching or emergency service in field operations preferred
BLS and BTLS certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

Serves as the liaison between staff of the referring facility and staff of WFBH to ensure a smooth inbound and outbound patient transfer process.
Ensures safety of AirCare flight crew by being responsible for AirCare dispatching, flight following information, and tracking.
Dispatches Air Care/Brenner Critical Care Transport: receives requests, arranges requested mode of transport, documents pertinent information.
Develops and maintains effective processes and documentation in information systems to facilitate efficient and safe transports.
Adheres to general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships, and team building.
Interacts with coworkers in an effective, positive, and professional manner to encourage a cohesive work environment.
Demonstrates responsibility for professional development by participating in department education programs and department hospital activities.
