About The Position

CloudBees is seeking a Communications Specialist, PR & Organic Social to tell the company's stories to developers, platform engineers, and their leaders. This role involves managing and growing the company's organic presence across various social channels, creating engaging content, and participating authentically in developer communities. The specialist will also be responsible for managing public relations efforts, including drafting press releases, pitching stories to media, and monitoring industry news. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of developer audiences, a knack for storytelling, and operational sharpness in managing communications efforts.

Requirements

  • Storyteller with the ability to find the human angle in technical topics and structure compelling narratives.
  • Understanding of developers and technical audiences, knowing what earns their respect.
  • Fluency in how internet culture moves across platforms and ability to spot trends.
  • Knowledge of the unwritten rules of developer channels (Reddit, Hacker News, Discord).
  • Proficiency in writing for various channels (LinkedIn posts, video scripts, bylines, pitches).
  • 3 to 5 years in communications, PR, social, content, or community work, with technical subject matter experience (software delivery, CI/CD, agentic coding, security, or platform engineering).
  • Experience managing project teams or agency partners.
  • Operational sharpness in building and maintaining calendars, trackers, and reporting.
  • Fluent use of AI for research, exploration, and eliminating low-value work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience producing content for B2B SaaS, especially developer tools.
  • A footprint in developer communities (open source, Discord, Hacker News, Reddit) as a contributor.
  • Design and video skills (Figma, Canva, Adobe Express, CapCut, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with Sprout Social or a comparable platform, including pulling and interpreting analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Growing our organic presence across social channels (LinkedIn, X, Reddit, Hacker News, Discord, YouTube, and emerging platforms), adapting voice to each channel.
  • Telling stories that resonate with builders by mining engineers, customers, and the community for narratives.
  • Transforming launches and company moments into shareable stories, collaborating with product marketing and demand generation.
  • Engaging on community-first channels as a genuine participant.
  • Producing multimedia content (video, graphics, carousels, event clips) for a technical audience.
  • Monitoring trends and conversations, and engaging on behalf of the brand.
  • Developing and recommending the channel strategy for social media.
  • Reporting on engagement rate, impressions, and follower growth.
  • Handling day-to-day channel administration, including profile hygiene, access, brand consistency, and community guidelines.
  • Managing the calendar, approvals, tagging taxonomy, dashboards, and user onboarding in Sprout Social.
  • Running and scaling the employee advocacy program.
  • Coordinating with demand generation to ensure organic and paid social efforts are aligned.
  • Identifying media moments that reinforce the corporate narrative.
  • Managing day-to-day media operations with agency teams.
  • Drafting press releases, media alerts, pitches, and bylines.
  • Responding to inbound press inquiries.
  • Planning and executing individual launches and campaigns.
  • Monitoring competitor and industry news daily, and surfacing reactive opportunities.
  • Managing speaking and awards submissions.
  • Keeping the newsroom, press kit, and boilerplate current.
  • Tracking agency scope, deliverables, and budget.
  • Reporting weekly on earned coverage, including volume, outlet tier, message pull-through, and share of voice.
