About The Position

The Communications Specialist & Content Creator develops compelling content and supports strategic communications across Vistra’s internal and external channels. This role combines creativity and execution, producing high-quality writing, visuals, and digital storytelling while helping to manage communication plans that inform and engage employees and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strong writer with a sharp eye for detail, a passion for brand storytelling, and the ability to translate complex business topics into clear, accessible content. They also bring an informed perspective on generative AI and how evolving technologies shape the future of communications, helping Vistra stay aligned, consistent, and forward-looking in a rapidly changing environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in content writing, corporate communications, political campaign work, or a related field
• Experience creating content in a variety of formats, including articles, social media, and blog posts, videos, and presentations
• Strong writing skills with knowledge of AP Style
• Experience with social media listening and scheduling tools
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)

Nice To Haves

• Experience with video editing, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or equivalent design tools is a plus
• Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and produce high-quality content for internal and external audiences, including Vistra websites, intranet/social platforms, presentations, video scripts, and press materials
• Help coordinate messaging and materials for community partnerships and charitable initiatives across Texas, the Midwest, the Northeast, and California
• Comfort collaborating with cross-functional teams, including HR, Legal, Technology Services, and Plant Leadership
