About The Position

Fit Fusion’s marketing team manages internal and external communications across a rapidly expanding network of Crunch Fitness locations. The Communications & Outreach Specialist plays a key role in developing, implementing, and optimizing multi-location member and prospect communications across digital messaging platforms, including email and SMS marketing channels. This role is responsible for managing campaign messaging, evaluating audience engagement strategies, and ensuring communication initiatives align with brand standards, operational priorities, and business growth goals. The Communications Specialist collaborates with marketing leadership and cross-functional teams to translate marketing strategies into effective, data-informed communication campaigns.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing marketing communications, email marketing, digital messaging campaigns, or related marketing initiatives preferred
  • Experience developing and optimizing communication campaigns across multiple audience segments
  • Strong understanding of digital communication strategy and audience engagement best practices
  • Ability to analyze campaign performance data and translate insights into communication improvements
  • Strong written communication, editing, and messaging development skills
  • Experience with email marketing platforms, SMS marketing systems, or marketing automation tools preferred
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Ability to independently manage multiple communications initiatives and deadlines
  • Comfortable working remotely and collaborating across departments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement targeted SMS and email communication strategies supporting membership growth, retention, promotions, operational messaging, and community engagement.
  • Evaluate campaign objectives and determine appropriate messaging structure, audience segmentation, delivery timing, and communication channel utilization.
  • Adapt corporate and regional marketing strategies into location-specific communications that align with brand standards and local market needs.
  • Collaborate with marketing leadership and operational teams to identify communication priorities and campaign opportunities.
  • Recommend communication strategies based on audience engagement trends, campaign performance, and business objectives.
  • Write and distribute press releases announcing new club openings, leadership hires, awards, and other company milestones across all Fit Fusion markets.
  • Research and maintain a working knowledge of the media landscape, local business climate, and community priorities in each market Fit Fusion operates in to inform outreach strategy.
  • Develop and maintain organized media pitch lists, identifying relevant journalists, outlets, and reporters covering fitness, business, and local community news.
  • Pitch story ideas, press releases, and company news to journalists and media outlets, tailoring outreach to each reporter's beat and audience.
  • Follow up proactively on media pitches to maximize response rates and press coverage opportunities.
  • Develop skill in securing media placements across print, broadcast, and digital outlets, building relationships with media contacts with guidance from marketing leadership.
  • Write LinkedIn posts and other social content supporting public relations efforts, company announcements, and brand visibility.
  • Maintain comfort and proficiency with social media platforms and basic photography to support PR storytelling and content needs.
  • Utilize media database and monitoring software, such as Muck Rack, to manage journalist contacts, track outreach, and monitor coverage results.
  • Lead the development, formatting, scheduling, and deployment of multi-location SMS and email campaigns.
  • Customize campaign messaging and delivery strategies based on audience behavior, location performance, and marketing goals.
  • Evaluate communication timing, frequency, and segmentation approaches to maximize campaign effectiveness and member engagement.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance metrics, identifying opportunities to improve engagement, conversion, and messaging clarity.
  • Recommend adjustments to communication strategies based on campaign results and evolving marketing priorities.
  • Oversee quality and consistency of all outbound communications across assigned platforms and locations.
  • Interpret brand standards, regulatory requirements, and compliance guidelines to ensure messaging accuracy and consistency.
  • Establish and maintain communication best practices, messaging standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Evaluate communication workflows and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Ensure messaging accuracy across promotions, operational announcements, events, and membership communications.
  • Manage communications calendars, campaign timelines, and messaging priorities across multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Maintain and optimize communications templates, messaging frameworks, and campaign asset organization.
  • Identify system or data challenges affecting communication performance and recommend solutions or process improvements.
  • Support integration of communication platforms with broader marketing and operational systems.
  • Analyze campaign performance data including engagement metrics, segmentation effectiveness, and message performance trends.
  • Provide insights and strategic recommendations to marketing leadership regarding communication effectiveness and audience engagement opportunities.
  • Develop reporting summaries highlighting campaign results, performance trends, and recommended optimization strategies.
  • Monitor communication platform performance and recommend enhancements to improve marketing outcomes.
  • Support partnership communications, and community engagement messaging initiatives.
  • Provide communication strategy input for company events, member engagement campaigns, and brand initiatives.
  • Recommend messaging approaches that support brand consistency and member experience across all communication channels.
