About The Position

The Communications Operator covers the switchboard on three different 8-hour shifts (AM, PM, and NOC), operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This role facilitates the communication of emergency situations via overhead page, radio communication, or electronic page. The Communications Operator serves as the hospital’s first point of contact with the community, requiring accurate, courteous, and prompt responses.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Marshall Medical Center’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Ability to master the use of the PBX switchboard.
  • Ability to juggle several callers at once and respond to calls accurately, quickly, and politely.
  • Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.

  • The job requires long periods of time sitting with repetitious functions.
