About The Position

The College of Education, serving over 1200 credential and graduate students, focuses on closing the opportunity gap and credentialing the largest number of teachers among California public institutions. The Asian Language Bilingual Teacher Education Program Consortium (ALBTEP) supports K-12 teachers in obtaining Asian bilingual credentials, offering scholarships to make this more accessible and promote Asian languages. ALBTEP works with the National Resource Center for Asian Languages Center (NRCAL) to enhance the nation's capacity for teaching and learning Asian languages through publications, educational resources, and professional development. The Communications/Marketing Student Assistant will support ALBTEP and NRCAL program coordinators with animation and illustrations for programming operations, including seminar presentations, digital storytelling, and marketing. This role provides creative support for program activities and coordination assistance for educational events, offering an opportunity for a federal work-study student passionate about the intersection of animation and Asian language education.

Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Experience in content creation, marketing, and social media management, particularly for Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.
  • Strong skills in copywriting and graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator).
  • Experience working with digital tools (Zoom, GoogleDrive, Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

  • Edit, design, and proof NRCAL flyers, digital newsletter, and other promotional materials for publication/procurement.
  • Create copy that increases access to NRCAL’s resources and programming on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, Apple Podcast.
  • Maintain social media calendar and publish posts in a timely fashion.
  • Research and compile social trends, content proposals, and innovative executions to increase our digital presence.
  • Participate in all activities, events, conferences, meetings that take place on-campus and off- campus supported by NRCAL.
  • Display signage for publicity and clarity for all events, take pictures and short 2-minute videos at events.
  • Follow CSUF and ASC policies for I.T., reimbursements, reconciliations, liability, audio/video release forms, room and open space reservation, custodial services, facilities, parking, food & delivery orders, other approved vendors, and other related procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
