About The Position

The College of Education is seeking an exceptional individual to join its Secondary Education team as a Communications/Marketing Student Assistant. This role supports the Asian Language Bilingual Teacher Education Program Consortium (ALBTEP) and the National Resource Center for Asian Languages Center (NRCAL). ALBTEP focuses on supporting K-12 teachers in obtaining Asian bilingual credentials and making these programs more accessible through scholarships. NRCAL aims to improve the nation's capacity for teaching and learning Asian Languages by creating publications, educational resources, and professional development opportunities. The student assistant will provide support on animation and illustrations for programming operations, including seminar presentations, digital storytelling, and marketing. This is an exciting opportunity for a federal work-study student passionate about the intersection of animation and Asian language education.

Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
  • Experience in content creation, marketing, and social media management, particularly for Facebook, Instagram, and Youtube.
  • Strong skills in copywriting and graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Indesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator).
  • Experience working with digital tools (Zoom, GoogleDrive, Microsoft Office).

  • A portfolio of past work would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Provide staff with support on animation and illustrations for programming operations.
  • Assist with seminar presentations, digital storytelling, and marketing.
  • Provide creative support to program activities.
  • Provide coordination assistance for educational events.
  • Edit, design, and proof NRCAL flyers, digital newsletters, and other promotional materials.
  • Create copy to increase access to NRCAL’s resources and programming on Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, and Apple Podcast.
  • Maintain social media calendar and publish posts in a timely fashion.
  • Research and compile social trends, content proposals, and innovative executions to increase digital presence.
  • Participate in all activities, events, conferences, and meetings supported by NRCAL.
  • Display signage for publicity and clarity at events.
  • Take pictures and short videos at events.
  • Follow CSUF and ASC policies for IT, reimbursements, reconciliations, liability, audio/video release forms, room and open space reservation, custodial services, facilities, parking, food & delivery orders, other approved vendors, and other related procedures.
