About The Position

Britebound is a national non-profit dedicated to supporting middle and high school learners in exploring their interests, experiencing potential careers, and navigating a path to a meaningful future. The organization achieves this through free digital-first experiences, grantmaking, policy advocacy, research, and impact investing. The Communications Manager will partner within multi-disciplinary Impact Hubs, supporting Managing Directors in making the work visible, understood, and actionable. In this mission-driven organization, communications is integral to the work from its inception, ensuring that research, partnerships, and milestones reach the intended audiences and amplify the organization's mission. This role serves as the crucial link between the hub's initiatives and the broader field, owning the Impact Hub's year-round storytelling to ensure individual communications efforts are part of strategic campaigns and plans, reinforcing Britebound's identity and organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Five to seven years in communications, content strategy, public relations, or a closely related field.
  • Experience owning communications for a program, portfolio, or initiative as an individual contributor.
  • Track record of carrying a body of work from strategy through execution and measurement.
  • Demonstrated track record developing and executing a communications strategy tied to organizational goals.
  • Experience serving as a communications partner to executives, program leaders, and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing social media presence and performance, with an emphasis on LinkedIn.
  • Experience running mass external email through a marketing platform, including list management and compliance.
  • A portfolio of published writing across formats (e.g., Op-Eds, executive thought leadership, grantee and external partner storytelling).
  • Experience directing and coordinating with creative teams, designers, or agencies.
  • Commitment to mission-driven work in education and workforce.
  • Comfort creating, leading, guiding, supporting, and partnering through ambiguity.
  • Ability to anticipate problems, surface them early, and bring solutions.
  • Strong editorial judgment and writing skills, translating complex information into accessible content.
  • Proficiency in communications strategy and dissemination planning.
  • Skill in message and voice stewardship, ensuring brand consistency.
  • Experience in executive thought-leadership partnership.
  • Expertise in email marketing strategy and execution, including segmentation, deliverability, measurement, and compliance.
  • Ability in creative coordination, bringing design and messaging together.
  • Proficiency in project and editorial-calendar management (e.g., Asana).
  • Skill in performance analysis to refine reach, engagement, and effectiveness.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Owns the hub's annual communications strategy, ensuring individual posts, emails, and events contribute to a coherent narrative.
  • Develops dissemination plans for releases, partnerships, and milestones, mapping work to appropriate channels, partners, media, and field audiences.
  • Integrates communications into hub planning early to structure announcements, events, and partnerships for maximum reach and impact.
  • Manages the hub's communications on the shared editorial calendar in Asana for team visibility and progress tracking.
  • Steward the hub's language and framing to maintain on-message, organizationally aligned, and recognizably Britebound external communications.
  • Translates hub research and programmatic work into accessible content for partners, media, and the field.
  • Elevates grantee and partner stories through audience-specific storytelling to demonstrate the hub's impact.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and expert-level communication in all external content.
  • Manages mass external email distribution through Marketing Cloud and Salesforce, ensuring compliance and measurability.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between the hub and the creative team, coordinating design and messaging for polished materials.
  • Owns the hub's presence across its owned channels, using performance data to refine strategy.
  • Partners with hub executives on thought leadership, shaping their public presence strategy and editing content for LinkedIn and public voice.
  • Frames, times, and channels the hub's work to earn visibility and achieve communications, hub, and organizational goals.
  • Maintains consistent, on-message communications to strengthen the wider Britebound narrative.
  • Transforms the hub's work into influence within the field, distinguishing impactful work from work that moves systems and people.
