About The Position

The Communications Manager, USA will support and help build Halter’s communications presence in the United States. This is a hands-on role for a driven communicator excited to grow in a fast-paced agri-tech environment. You’ll execute proactive public relations that amplifies Halter’s story, support brand reputation across the country, and work closely with Halter’s US PR agency and marketing team. You will work closely with the US Director of Sales, US Marketing Lead, and the Strategic Communications team in New Zealand. This is an exciting opportunity to be an early team member in Halter’s most important growth market, with a clear pathway to grow your career as the company scales.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years’ experience in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
  • A track record of contributing to earned media coverage through pitching, writing, or relationship-building.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone and messaging for different audiences.
  • Familiarity with the US media landscape and an appetite to build new media relationships.
  • Comfortable working autonomously and collaborating with remote and international teams.
  • A self-starter who takes initiative and follows through — you don’t wait to be told what to do.
  • Strong communicator with great instincts for storytelling and messaging.
  • Energised by fast-paced environments and comfortable with some ambiguity as the company scales.
  • Relationship-focused with genuine curiosity about people, land, and the future of farming.
  • A passion for innovation, sustainability, and transforming agriculture.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in agriculture, technology, or a mission-driven industry is a plus — but not required.
  • Experience working with or alongside PR agencies is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and execution of US-focused communications strategies that raise Halter’s profile across agriculture, technology, and business media.
  • Build and nurture relationships with journalists, trade publications, and industry contacts.
  • Coordinate with Halter’s US PR agency day-to-day, supporting alignment between global messaging and local market needs.
  • Draft and coordinate press releases, media pitches, and customer success stories tied to Halter’s growth and product updates.
  • Produce high-quality communications content including press releases, media kits, talking points, and social copy.
  • Help adapt Halter’s global brand messaging for the US market, ensuring it resonates with American ranchers and media.
  • Support spokespeople with media preparation materials and briefing documents.
  • Assist in monitoring reputational risks in the US market and flagging issues to leadership in a timely manner.
  • Support the implementation of crisis communications protocols, helping coordinate fast and effective responses in US time zones.
  • Help coordinate speaking engagements and profile-raising opportunities for US-based leaders.
  • Support internal communications for US teams, helping foster a strong sense of mission and culture.
  • Liaise with relevant government entities and NGO partners on any communications involving Halter.
