About The Position

Avid Core is seeking a Communications Intern to support communications and outreach activities for state and local initiatives. This is a 3-month, part-time, hourly internship designed for students or individuals with limited professional experience who are eager to learn and grow in a fast-paced consulting environment. At the conclusion of the internship, an employment contract review will be conducted based on performance and business needs. Candidates from all backgrounds are welcome to apply for our open positions and to join our bench of talented professionals.

Requirements

  • Able to attend and participate in engagement events located in the Washington, DC metro area
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate or bachelor's degree program
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new tools, technologies, and processes
  • Ability to stay organized and manage multiple small tasks
  • Attention to detail and willingness to take direction
  • Comfortable working both independently and in a team environment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Professional and confident interacting with stakeholders, including clients and project teams
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented, and adaptable
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Reliable, responsive, and accountable

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, government, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with drafting and editing basic communications materials, including emails, flyers, and social media content
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of communications strategies and marketing plans
  • Assist with organizing and staffing community engagement events and activities
  • Help collect, organize, and maintain project data, notes, and trackers
  • Support outreach efforts by helping distribute materials and promote initiatives
  • Review and proofread documents for clarity, grammar, and consistency
  • Provide administrative and project coordination support as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
