About The Position

This Early Careers full-time internship position will be available starting in June 2027. UnitedHealth Group is seeking a communications intern to join our enterprise communications team. The enterprise communications team strengthens company reputation and supports business priorities through clear, compelling and responsible communications. This internship provides exposure to enterprise-level strategy, leadership visibility and mutli-channel storytelling in a highly regulated and fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university. Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college / university during the duration of the internship (June-August 2027)
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization (F-1 students with practical training and candidates requiring H-1Bs, TNs, etc. will not be considered)
Must be able to commute/relocate to the aligned office location (Eden Prairie, MN or Washington, DC) 5 days a week for the duration of the internship

Nice To Haves

Experience in writing, editing, content creation, social media, digital marketing, or communications
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Experience planning and coordinating events, meetings, or projects
Familiarity with social media platforms, content strategy, social listening, and analytics
Proven ability to create engaging content and adapt messaging across a variety of digital and social channels
Proven exposure to healthcare, public policy, research, public relations, or related professional environments through work, internships, or volunteer experience
Proven solid written and verbal communication, presentation, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
Proven detail-oriented, proactive, and organized team player with strong project management skills and a collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

Create content on topics such as health care delivery, innovation and technology, employee benefits and programs, mission, and culture
Support channels including intranet, email, social media, and digital signage
Assist with campaign assets, logistics, and project management, including videos, photography, and infographics
Proofread and edit key documents and deliverables for internal and external audiences
Support key employee and company campaigns by collecting, packaging, and securing approvals for campaign assets
Research, analyze, and share best practices across the competitive landscape
Support the Social Media team in developing targeted campaigns for the company’s owned channels
Assist with ad hoc projects across supported digital channels
Manage multiple projects by aligning timelines and expectations, communicating progress, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
Stay current on digital marketing trends to bring innovative experience design ideas that challenge the status quo and push creative boundaries
Support the Social Media team with post writing, graphics consultation, approvals management, and publishing
Contribute to ad hoc projects across supported digital channels
Support multiple projects by managing timelines and expectations, communicating progress, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
Monitor and research executive visibility opportunities, including media, social media, and events
Research internal and external speaking opportunities for leadership team consideration
Track and summarize key health care conferences and events
