About The Position

The Communications Intern is located within the Roadway Safety Section of the Traffic Operations & Safety Bureau and may work on behalf of the entire bureau. The intern will gain hands-on experience designing, building, and promoting roadway safety resources. The role involves creating and updating outreach and training materials and web content, collaborating with subject matter experts, and translating technical or complex information into engaging learning experiences for non-technical audiences. The intern will also support bureau initiatives, contribute creative ideas in project meetings, and attend team meetings, events, and occasional outreach activities.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited educational institution.
• Ability to understand technical content and creatively transform it into engaging material for non-technical audiences.
• Experience creating graphics and photo/video content.
• Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred majors or coursework include Advertising, Business, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or Graphic Design.

Responsibilities
