About The Position
The City of Fort Dodge is seeking a Communications Intern to contribute to a significant website transformation project. This role involves assisting with the organization and updating of website content to ensure public information is accurate, easily accessible, and user-friendly. The intern will also review the new site's design for usability and ADA compliance, aiming to create a more inclusive online experience for the community. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and curious student majoring in communications or a related field who is eager to make a tangible impact.
Requirements
- Current student pursuing a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- Must successfully pass a post-offer background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing, editing, and organizing website content across City departments
- Ensure key public information is accurate, current, and easy to locate
- Help migrate content from the existing website to the new platform
- Review webpages for clarity, readability, and user-friendly structure
- Support ADA compliance efforts, including formatting content for accessibility standards
- Collaborate with staff to gather and verify information for website updates
- Identify gaps in content and recommend improvements to enhance the user experience
- Assist with basic analytics or feedback tracking to evaluate website effectiveness
Benefits
