About The Position

Rooted in Epicentre Church’s Identity, Mission, and Vision, and shaped by our Ministry Philosophy (Relational and Equipping Values), the Communications Director leads Epicentre’s communications ministry within a focused part-time scope, helping the church family encounter God, disciple others, and live on mission through clear, timely, and engaging communication. This role provides strategic leadership for the church’s internal and external communications, directing digital platforms, social media, print and visual media, website, and email, and shaping clear messages through announcements and storytelling. Within 20 hours a week, the Communications Director focuses on the most important channels and content, works closely with the Graphic Designer and General Administrator on shared work, and apprentices a small volunteer team to extend the department’s capacity. Requirements

  • Demonstrates Christ-like maturity, humility, integrity, servant-heartedness, and prayerful leadership.
  • Strong written and visual communication skills.
  • Confident with website CMS, e-news platforms (Mailchimp), Planning Center, Google Workspace, Slack, Instagram, WhatsApp, and basic short-form video editing.
  • Ability to maintain healthy rhythms and hold multiple ministries’ time-sensitive needs within a focused part-time window.
  • Alignment with Epicentre’s Identity, Mission, and Statement of Faith.
  • Collaborative, relational, and able to build unity with staff, ministry leaders, and volunteer teams.
  • Completion of, or commitment to Epicentre/Antioch Discipleship School.
  • Prior communications, marketing, or ministry communications experience strongly desired.
  • Volunteer team coordination experience preferred.
  • Actively participate in Epicentre Sunday services, Lifegroups, prayer gatherings, and staff meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and send e-news (1–2x/week) via Mailchimp, including Round-up and Nations highlights.
  • Collaborate with the Pastoral Team on the weekly Sunday in-person announcement script and pre-roll slides.
  • Plan and post on social media (Instagram primary, Facebook secondary) per the Social Media Calendar.
  • Admin the church-wide WhatsApp channel, steward groups, and maintain a 2x/week posting cadence (more during church-wide initiatives).
  • Send/add weekly Lifegroup Announcements (Friday cadence).
  • Keep premier website pages (homepage, event page, lifegroup page) current and maintain external listings (Google Maps, Antioch Movement).
  • Manage/review Google My Business, Yelp, and Bing reviews; respond as appropriate and surface trends.
  • Handle YouTube livestream uploads and descriptions; may delegate YouTube timestamps to a volunteer.
  • Partner with the Production Team, Pastoral Team, and Graphic Designer on sermon series rollout.
  • Oversee a volunteer team for Sunday and key event photography.
  • Produce vertical short-form video for Instagram and partner on horizontal content for YouTube and e-news.
  • Source graphics from the Graphic Designer, providing briefs, deadlines, and channel context.
  • Lead communication rollout for seasonal and annual initiatives (Easter, Advent, WMLA campaigns, Annual Report, Annual Membership Meeting, Fundraisers).
  • Maintain and evolve the Communications Foundation Document (“Communications Bible”), including policies, tone, branding conventions, Epicentre lingo, channel rhythms, and seasonal sequences and pathways.
  • Provide a discernment framework for politically sensitive content; consult with Senior Equipping Team on response timing and messaging.
  • Provide channel execution for crisis/emergency response communications under the Executive Pastor’s messaging direction.
  • Manage Epicentre’s internal communications platforms (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom), including account stewardship, usage norms, channels and spaces hygiene, and user support, working with the General Administrator.
  • Steward the Event + Facility Request Form (epicentre.org/event-request) and maintain clarity with staff and ministries on usage.
  • Provide onboarding orientation for new staff on communications tools and norms.
  • Partner with ministries to create and steward their own ministry communication channels.
  • Provide communications support for World Mandate LA (WMLA), including channel rollout, registration flow, content production, and on-site needs, working with the Executive Pastor.
  • Coordinate shared comms moments for Antioch SoCal regional assignments (e.g., joint events, regional updates) as requested.
  • Keep Epicentre’s external Antioch Movement presence current (movement listings, regional channels).
  • Build toward two year-round volunteers serving on the Communications team.
  • Invite and apprentice volunteers in social media, photography, video, e-news writing, and graphic design.
  • Create lanes of participation that release ownership to lay members.
  • Participate in staff meetings, staff prayer, retreats, and conferences (Epicentre and Antioch Movement).
  • Support church-wide ministries and resourcing (Sunday Services, key events).
  • Help carry and champion Epicentre’s vision.
  • Perform any other task necessary to support the mission of Epicentre Church.
